Catherine "Kit" Power

Catherine “Kit” Power passed peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by those that loved her. Though cancer came with a vengeance, Kit lived a full, meaningful, and independent life right to the very end.

Born in Coachman’s Cove, Newfoundland to Maggie & Nicholas Kennedy on November 12, 1933, it was always a joke she had two birthdays as they originally thought she was born in December. If there was dancing or singing, you knew where to find Kit. She loved to laugh, have fun, and be entertained. She was always ready with a story or two and carried with her a lifetime of history and memories that she generously shared with those around her. Kit loved life deeply and never hesitated to let you know exactly what she was thinking. Even at 91 years old, she still insisted on doing the dishes herself — a true reflection of her integrity, determination, and strong spirit. She was proud to live independently and did so with grace and resilience.

She stepped outside of her comfort zone and made her first trip to Belize at 89! Everyone embraced her there and she loved the heat. Her fondest memory was having a baby howler monkey touch her shoulder. She wanted to take it home! She overcame her fear of water & went kayaking and in the pool.

Kit will lovingly be remembered by her brothers Jim Kennedy & Nicholas (Theresea); Son Humphrey Power (Deanna Jean), Grandson Clinton; (Son Frank), Grandchildren Mark & whitney; Son Ed Power (Patricia), Grandaughters Samantha & Kayla; Daughter Rosemary Peterson (Terry), Grandchildren Patsy & Mathew; Daughter Lorraine Bailey (Dale), Grandson Devon; (Son Ron) Grandchildren Chelise, Nick, Fawn, Dylan & Jasmin; Son Joe Power (Diana), Grandaughter Keisha; Son Robert Power; (Son Sean) Grandson Patrick; Grandchildren Anthony, Chris, Jenna & Harold; and numerous great grand children, and great. Great grandchildren, a five generation legacy she was so proud of.

She was predeceased by her loving Husband Humphrey Power; Brothers Jack (Mary Margaret) & Joseph (Mary); Sisters Mary Lefresne & Anastasia Philpott (Wish); Daughter In Law Ellen (Humphrey), Sons Frank, Ron & Sean; (Ed) Grandsons Allen & Tyler; (Lorraine) Grandson Darnell.

A service will be held at 11am on June 27th at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 144 Nadina Cr, Fraser Lake, BC, followed by burial at the Fraser Lake Cemetery and Celebration of Life lunch in the Church at noon.

Kit’s family will forever cherish her stories, her laughter, her honesty, and the love she shared so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and deep devotion to family. If you have anything you wish to share at the celebration of life and cannot be there in person please forward it to Humphrey. Hepower75@gmail.com 403-419-9124
